Biscuiteers’ Private School of Icing – A Storybook Escape in Notting Hill.
Tucked along the picture-perfect streets of Notting Hill, the icing cafe looks like it has been sketched into the neighbourhood rather than built.
Its hand drawn façade, whimsical black and white detailing, and boutique storybook charm make it impossible to walk past without pausing.
When you step inside, it feels like you enter a world where time slows and every detail has been lovingly considered. The first thing you notice is the warmth and all the beautiful details inside their store.
The Biscuiteers team greet you with such delight. You are taken to your private icing area either downstairs, their private courtyard if it’s a warm day or the tables laid out by the shop floor. All beautifully set up, with tables laid out with colourful piping bags and biscuits that look like tiny blank canvases. Everything is immaculate, colourful and very pretty. There’s an easy, encouraging energy that instantly puts guests at ease, whether you’re a complete beginner or someone who has admired their iconic iced designs for years.
The private icing sessions are a really nice way to get stuck in. It’s a really lovely activity to do with kids. Equally it can be a really special afternoon to spend with a group of friends.
The staff give you demonstrations explaining the art of getting perfectly iced biscuits. You are then left alone to start practising before getting started with actual biscuits.
Children concentrate with quiet determination and adults start to focus solely on getting the icing right which can feel very calming and meditative. Once your creations are complete, the staff take them away to set. Children are then treated to a luxury hot chocolate in their pretty mugs and adults are offered a tea or coffee. Your beautiful biscuits are then boxed up in the Biscuiteers’ signature illustrated keepsake boxes that feel almost as special as the biscuits themselves.
Many guests linger afterwards, browsing the boutique shelves or stepping back into the charming Notting Hill markets. You leave with a sense of having done something both whimsical and quietly luxurious.
City O'Clock Secret
The private icing classes are just one of their many experiences. Biscuiteers host themed workshops, seasonal masterclasses and other events that transform their Notting Hill shop into a haven of creativity. Once you’ve experienced the magic of icing in a space that feels like a beautiful book, you’ll find yourself wanting to return again and again. No wonder many local A listers are regulars.
